“The Visitor” may be the single best episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine ever. And it’s one of the best episodes of any Trek series.
Am I right?
I may be biased, as I just re-watched it for the first time since it aired back in 1995. Also, my father was still alive back then.
Watching the film on Blu-Ray and listening to the new commentary by Damon Lindelof (writer/producer of Lost) and Anthony Pascale (Editor of Trekmovie.com). They’re great. I’m learning a lot. Here’s an example.
Damon Lindelof’s top 3 Trek films -
1. The Wrath of Khan
2. Galaxy Quest
3. First Contact
On a related note, I think the new film could get a Best Picture nomination based on the astonishing opening sequence (“You’re Captain now, Mister Kirk”) alone.
I loved it. I absolutely loved it. It was a very, very odd experience to be in the cinema watching a new Star Trek movie that I wasn’t in. Not only that, but with the exception of Leonard Nimoy I didn’t know any of the cast … but, it’s Star Trek. They’ve taken some quite innovative decisions but it’s absolutely essential, right down the middle Star Trek. I got a great kick out of it.
